Hi All (DECEMBER 16)

Just a Housekeeping update: We met a lot of cool people in Miami, very supportive of the cause. In Brisbane, Australia, a KRE yielded excellent results. And early plaques have survived hurricanes. There was shot of the Krblin Jihn Kabin in Domus, the Italian magazine.

So things are going strong with Kymaerica--we expect 15 new plaques
in the early part of the year, but this blog got a little unwieldy from
the technical perspective (we are using pretty old code--not the fault
of the webmaster, just growing pains). So we have been adding content
to the project, but not through the blog. That will change soon:
pretty soon we are flipping to a new blogging software and adding a lot
more resources.

So continue to enjoy the site and look for the new blog RIGHT HERE!

Background on Texture Flags

Above we see a texture flag on display at a recent show in Sharaara Tlar, in Linear London. Here's a link to Flickr set of 16 Texture Flags belonging to the Fraternitee--all on display at the Embassy Row Historical Site in Aedguerre.

Texture Flags were key to the identity of any gwome.
In our linear world (as in the images above and below), we are
basically experiencing representations of Texture Flags on an visual
level, but they also had a quality to them that often extend to being a
physicality that could ripple in the wind.

There are even accounts of people parched in the desert who gleaned
moisture from Texture Flag that turned to be a roiling river--of course
there are plenty of people who tragically died cowering behind a
texture of stone. And some who felt that the most powerful ones were
the most impenetrably intact.

Much to learn on this score.

Lovely drawing of a texture flag from the field notes of an geographer in the Tonopah monastery district.

This texture flag is from Pleiade, part of the Parisian diaspora. We don't know alot about the Geographer who recorded this, but it shows that many (but far from a majority) of gwomes had regular interaction with distant cultures.

At the Workshop for Explorers on Monday night, we sifted through some
amazing images originally in one of the archives in the Monastery
District of Tonopah (in another part of Rhyoleind). Most came from notebooks and diaries of the era.

Above is a representation of Federica the Unifier's approach to
Rhyolite. Note the idealization of Federica, who preferred to be
depicted in one of two ways--this almost domestic maternal figure for kNevada--or
as fierce warrior. She was a master of the propaganda of governance,
which is why the thwarting of her goals of unification by the
Rhyoleinders frustrated her so much.

Below, an image of the raft of rhyolyaseh used to hide the rhyoleir from Federica's troops--though most scholars believe the actual raft was much bigger.

And this a map of one of the many shifting boundaries within kNevada:

The Wardington Rules of War

The plaque we installed in Exshire, entitled "Lands of Exiles," gives a fascinating glimpse of a phenomenon that that occurred independently in many different rezhns of the Kymaerican globe.

Many gwomes have, through ease
of temporal access, found themselves locked in nearly constant battle
with their neighbors. Relatively evenly matched, the casualties mount
and mount. So, in the case of the gwomes between what is now the Thames (then the Aoselkan Channel) and the Wheel of Faith (the essentially pie shaped gwomes, all theocracies, centered near linear Leeds), a truce was declared (by agreement, different gwomes take credit on different years for suggesting it) and solutions discussed.

What they concluded was that a form of high-powered tranquilizer should
be used in battle, so that soldiers would not be killed. However, if
you experienced that incapacitation, you were dead to your people. Any
attempt to reconnect, even eye contact or a wave, would lead to instant
death and the slaughter of your whole family. Instead, you were exiled
to a gwome that did not
border your former home (and there were complicated rules and
negotiations for this) with nothing but what you had on you.
Collectively, these agreements are known as the Wardington Rules of War.

This was the first of the three Kymaerican plaques we installed in
linear London yesterday. This one honors Bragansas, two-dimensional
forms that are quite common in this section of Endlen Kymhuir (an
island grouping of kNow Estrelliia similar to the linear "Britain and
Irelands various smaller isles," but including a much more vigorous
Rockall).

This one can be found near the Kennington Tube Stop, not far from Man&Eve Gallery
where the Kymaerica show is.

Next was this one on Old Compton Street, showing the high water mark of the Great Dangaroo Flood:

Last we installed a plaque that captured a key moment in the political
history of Rockall--the observation of the prince of Rockall at the
scene of the crime in Angel Alley--not far from Whitechapel Art
Gallery. It was here that Esther Tabran witnessed someone fleeing
from the scene of the death of her sister Martha Tabran.

Welcome, Oregonians.
This was the scene a couple of weeks ago in Irvington as we prepared to dedicate the Velkristani Nirvana plaque.

It is one of 22 plaques (one more has been dedicated
since then). We are always posting new content about the universe
called Kymaerica and we hope you'll visit the plaque as well some of
the historical sites (so far, just two: in Joshua Tree and Paris, Illinois).

Let me explain some terms in the article:
a gwome is a cognate term meaning "footprint of the nation"

Velkristan is a gwome in aOregon

The Jihn Wranglikans were a sect that lived in the gwome of Notgeon in what we call linear California.

Their language was a bit unusual--to our ears.

The Grid attempted to seize control of Velkristan, but was defeated.

We hope you continue to explore the world of Kymaerica.

Well, the 22nd Kymaerican plaque
has been installed. (Look Close: It is right there on the corner, in
the center of the picture--we get even closer below)

It was a quiet ceremony. It may be that it was just a busy day or that few were willing to acknowledge that once Braethrens had had a thriving monastery district--where collections of wisdom and biodiversity from all over sGeorgia and Oceanic Georgia and even into the sTortuga District.

But here is the plaque, and I have a feeling the local community
will
soon reconnect with the wonder of their Kymaerican heritage. We
are quite lucky something survives from that era. Thought it was
a low monastery, it had symbolic value and its order was always treated
with great respect.

This is the first fragment of a monastery district we have been able to
honor in the Kymaerica project--which is a milestone in itself.
More on monastery districts in the future. For now, enjoy:
I have posted on this topic before, but one of the key things to understand about the Tehachapi
is that their famous neutrality resulted from their disastrous alliance
with the armies that were defeated in the wide ranging battles in the
Red Center of Estrellia.

Incredibly, during the fighting, the rock itself (depicted here)
prevented any soldiers from climbing it. The decisive fight was much
further north at the Devil's Marbles.

Great event Tuesday night, honoring the location of the Velkristani
Nirvana. Special thanks to our Kymaerican hosts Bruce, Brenda and Emma
for great drinks and grub. It was an excellent turnout with Kymaerican
vets as well as people new to this exploration.

This was a kind of special paradise which was a rare source of almost
hypnotic unity between the dueling Velkristani factions--the
Willhamenta and the Stanklyk, whose origins seem to be in the two
rivers, the Willamette and Columbia, that merge in this gwome.

In Kymaerican times, the rivers merged and then disappeared, allowing
the sea to flood in. Some of the Velkristanis believe that the
vanishing river is so densely concentrated that it emerges as the
springs of sweetness and light that are honored on this site, visible
only to the pure of heart.

In VeCnen and surrounding gwomes,
there is a tradition that along with the Delicated Purple Martin, there
is a dark force which is essentially a super dense nocturnal bird-like
creature that crushes what ever it touches.

For this reason when they build birdhouses for the Delicated Purple
Martin, they build them very, very strong. The practice persists as
you can see where the Siren tornado wrapped this rowboat around the
pole supporting Purple Martin House. Not far from the Storyteller Flats plaque.
